Systemic Therapy
Systemic therapy considers how systems affect an individual. We are all part of many systems, such as families, intimate relationships, work systems or social/cultural systems. Systemic approaches think about how particular situations cause or contribute to an individual's distress.
The context of people's difficulties is important in systemic therapy. The relationships, interactions, life events, narratives and behaviour patterns that develop between individuals and those in their lives are considered in relation to their psychological symptoms. To place difficulties in context systemic therapy considers the impact of factors such as age, gender, sexuality, culture and resources.
Systemic therapy can be used with individuals, families, groups, couples and organisations.
